


With over thirty years of experience in international negotiations, security, defence, and peacebuilding, Espinosa has firmly established herself as a respected global leader.
With extensive experience in multilateral diplomacy and international political affairs, Ms. Espinosa served as a policy advisor for the UICN (1999-2005), later as regional director (2005-2007), then as minister of foreign affairs, trade, and integration (2007-2008 and 2017-2018), ambassador and permanent representative of Ecuador to the United Nations in New York (2008-2009) and Geneva (2014-2017), and as President of the United Nations General Assembly (2018-2019).
Espinosa has led with pragmatism, versatility, and a commitment to effective multilateralism, qualities that would later define her presidency of the United Nations General Assembly.
